Oggi ho avuto un po' di tempo  e, seguendo i pareri che mi avete espresso 
quando ne abbiamo parlato, ho inviato a sourceforge la richiesta di 
registrazione del progettino per le email.
Dato che la cosa coinvolge in qualche maniera anche GlugTo vi posto la 
descrizione.
Spero che l'approvazione del progetto non sia subordinata alla qualità 
dell'inglese...

This project arise from the difficult to search through lots of backup email 
files when someone at the office needs to find some very old email.

Its core is a command line utility which can scan email archives in plain o 
compressed format (i.e. zip, gz, bz2), build very light indexes and search 
through them by sender/receiver/subject/body.

Another command line utility can download messages from IMAP/POP3 servers and 
generate the same kind of archive files and indexes.

Both the utilities are managed by a GUI that make them usable also by non 
technical personnel. A browsing through the filesystem can be done by a tree 
window and through the messages by a list panel. A widget shows the essential 
email parts. Single messages can be saved or opened by an external MUA.

The project is written in pure python and is object oriented. The GUI rely on 
wxPython 2.6 and is designed with wxGlade. It is based on english language, 
is localizable via gettext and is already translated in italian.

At the date it has been tested on Linux-x86 and Linux-PPC platforms and is GPL 
licensed. A Windows porting will soon be released.

The project will be supported by GlugTo - GNU/Linux Users Group Torino 
(Italy).
